Melchisedec was stated as a king of Salem in Abrahams time but the issue of Abraham giving a tenth of his rewards of battle leads me to believe Abraham felt that Melchisedec was some one more divine.

Although the disciples clearly understood Melchisedec's position, We were left out in the cold as to understand his importance.photogrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149737419546300220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215315945063170765.post-70549406413351765522009-11-28T18:22:21.207-08:002009-11-28T18:22:21.207-08:00Jesus is the king and He is high priest, too. As per the Moses' law, only Levi can be a high priest and Jesus, being not a Levi cannot be a high priest.

A precedence in the law is needed to justify Jesus' priesthood. Apostle Paul uses example of Melchizedek and quotes the precedence. Thus, Jesus can be high priest and law is not broken or compromised. Jesus is high priest by virtue of Melchizedek's priesthood.

Most if not all articles misses that Melchizedek was a king and thus must be having many people as subjects in his kingdom. Probably there were thousands of people in his kingdom worshipping true God who is God of Abraham, too.

God's blessings were not limited to JEWS as we are tend to think. Jesus said, "There are sheep which are from other folds". Thus, we can be priests before God.

Here is my interpretation for further reading.
http://blog.vishwas.org/archives/336

God bless you all...Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03255767889750847432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215315945063170765.post-42473402526464229692009-11-16T13:57:15.480-08:002009-11-16T13:57:15.480-08:00Tracy:

Just yesterday we were having a discussion during lunch and I was trying to explain why it's such a blessing to grow up in a Christian household; those are great examples. (The reason for our discussion was because my 17-yr old son doesn't like that church attendance is mandatory in our household; he can attend any Bible believing church but he must go just about every week)Tracyhttp://abundantliving-tracy.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215315945063170765.post-78101296269775849252009-11-14T17:47:16.150-08:002009-11-14T17:47:16.150-08:00Bev:

Using David and Bathsheba, I told the young girl that even David sinned. I said you know, David and Goliath. She said, "Who's Goliath?" I couldn't laugh because when we were little and never went to church, I thought because on Sunday morning we watched cartoons, I thought Hercules was a Bible character!lolAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215315945063170765.post-75070802775992172102009-11-14T11:53:26.927-08:002009-11-14T11:53:26.927-08:00Tracy:

However, it raised more questions than answers.

For now, all we do have to go by is how he was presented in scriptures. It has also been said in the ending times the mysteries and the heavens will be revealed for our understanding.photogrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149737419546300220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215315945063170765.post-30276478468208496312009-11-14T11:33:05.707-08:002009-11-14T11:33:05.707-08:00Whenever scripture does not give a lot of detail a...Whenever scripture does not give a lot of detail about something, I believe that it is on purpose; that God did not intend for us to have lots of detail on all aspects of the topic.

So, for Melchisedec, I think it means for me to stick with the obvious. Melchisedec gives me a picture of an eternal priest who is interceding for someone; Jesus in my priest who is forever interceding for me. Without this intercession, I can't get to God. (Need I even add how grateful I am to Jesus?!)

The rest of the questions about Melchisedec are interesting, but I do not see them as fundamental.Tracyhttp://abundantliving-tracy.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
